eaux de toilette: in conversation with the perfumers
Annick Menardo and Quentin Bisch, invited to co-create the two genderless fragrances, share their inspirations and experiences behind the creative process of Orange Smoke and Sur Ma Peau.
The master of eclectic curation continues to entice and inspire introducing two genderless Eaux de Toilette, reinventing tradition for a modern audience. Remaining true to the house vision of ‘impossible combinations’, the designer’s creative audacity reveals itself once again.
With fresh, luminous overtones and a lasting radiance, they are designed to be worn on their own or layered over synergistic partners from the Eaux de Parfum collection. Made with 89% naturally derived ingredients, they offer a contemporary twist on the classic art of perfumery.
SUR MA PEAU
Bergamot & Vanilla
In conversation with Quentin Bisch, Perfumer
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND SUR MA PEAU?
“I wanted to create an addictive freshness, full of contrast and playing with textures: warm facets of Vanilla meeting the sensuality of Tonka Bean, along with a burst of citruses.”
HOW IS SUR MA PEAU AN "IMPOSSIBLE COMBINATION"?
“The paradoxical mix of citruses and amber. The gathering of such extremes, this unexpected blend, creates a unique and round composition.”
There’s a feeling of delicate intimacy with Sur Ma Peau, a sense of comfort and familiarity. It caresses the skin with powdery notes of vanilla and tonka bean, encouraging an aura of closeness and sensuality. But first, an awakening burst of citrus clarity with Italian bergamot and mandarin, followed by woody-tempered orange flower.
In a generous 200ml recyclable glass bottle, Sur Ma Peau brings warmth and delight. Worn layered over Soie Malaquais Eau de Parfum, it creates a new iteration via an ‘impossible combination’, reflected in the colours and synergy of the bottles with their ruby to sapphire ombré. This visual echo mirrors the sophisticated evolution of the fragrance, as the opening fresh citrus rush is warmed up by a sensual, reassuring heart of vanilla and tonka beans.
ORANGE SMOKE
Orange Blossom & Incense
In conversation with Annick Menardo, Perfumer
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND ORANGE SMOKE?
“I wanted to explore this idea of the sky meeting the Earth through a bouquet of white flowers, sublimated by an orange blossom with fresh and luminous facets, crossed by mystical volutes of incense.”
HOW IS ORANGE SMOKE AN "IMPOSSIBLE COMBINATION"?
“It is the juxtaposition of two universes, two opposing blocks: the sky and the Earth. On one side, the resinous dark facets of incense representing the Earth, on the other the angelic white purity of the orange blossom symbolizing the sky.”
An impossible encounter of luminosity and the volutes of Earth, Orange Smoke bursts with energizing citrus notes of mandarin and neroli. Fueled by the spiritual heat of incense, the warmness of orange blossom spreads gradually as it melds slowly with the skin. The sensation of citrus freshness lasts throughout, tempered by an earthy myrrh and musky dry-down.
Orange Smoke brings radiance as it refreshes and revives. Its dégradé colour effect, progressing from translucent rose to citrine, reflects the dual character of the fragrance: an unexpected encounter between citric vibrance and the sinuous curl of incense smoke.
